Step 1. Click the Start button, click Settings
, and choose Control Panel.
Step2. Double-click the Network and Dial-up
Connections icon.
Step 3. Double-click the Make New Connection icon.
Step 4. Click the Next button.
Step 5. Select
Dial-up to the Internet. Then Click the Next button.
Step 6. Select I want to set up my Internet connection
manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN).
Then click the Next button.
Step 7. Select I connect through a phone line and a
modem. Then click the Next button.
Step 8. In the Area Code field, type the area code
of your local access number. In the Telephone number field, type
your local access number. Then click the Advanced button.
Step 9. Click on the Connection tab. Next, click the
PPP (Point to Point Protocol) radio button in the Connection
type area. Now check the box next to Disable LCP Extensions.
Then click the None radio button in the Logon procedure
area.
Step 10. Click on the Addresses tab. Next, click the
Always use the following radio button in the DNS server
address area. In the Primary DNS server field, type 216.98.128.70
. In the Alternate DNS server field,
type 216.98.138.70 . Then click the OK
button.
Step 11. Click the Next button.
Step 12. In the User name field, type your email
address. In the Password field, type your password. Then click the
Next button.
Step 13. In the Connection Name field, type SOHO Central. Then click the Next button.
Step 14. Click the No radio button in the Do you
want to set up an Internet mail account now area. Then click the
Next button.
Step 15. Check the box next to To connect to the Internet
immediately...if you would like to connect right away to the Internet.
Then click the Finish button.
You have successfully configured Windows 2000 to connect to
the Internet. |
