GoldSync Communication Server

Product Description

The latest addition to the GoldMine family of work group solutions for business is GoldSync, our new communications server. An evolutionary offspring of GoldMine's existing Remote Synchronization, GoldSync offers expanded benefits to provide inter-connectivity between mobile professionals, regional and corporate offices. From anywhere and at anytime, remote users can dial into GoldSync, or set their laptops in "answer mode" to receive calls at predetermined times. During off-peak hours, GoldSync automatically transfers GoldMine contact data, scheduled activities, notes and "linked" documents. GoldSync even filter transfers based on user or site name, activity type or specified data. GoldSync to ensure that GoldMine users are always working with the most current and complete account information.
Design
GoldSync was created to provide enterprise-wide communications between corporate and distributed sites. GoldSync ensures accurate, timely information updates on a greatly expanded scale. It provides multilevel security settings and easy operation for the Host and Remote users. It’s leading-edge technology minimizes data retrieval efforts and simplifies user interface to keep everyone "connected".

Benefits

Using standard telephone lines or WAN leased-lines, GoldSync can automatically call remote GoldMine systems. Optionally, remote GoldMine users can dial-up GoldSync to instantly pick up an awaiting transfer set containing the latest changes; no more wasted toll charges waiting for data to be processed. From offices to mobile users, and back up from mobile users to their offices, data is synchronized. GoldSync's intelligent synchronization ensures that all changed contact-related data is exchanged; even "linked" documents such as any letters, spreadsheets and memos associated with a contact. Being on the road, will never mean "being out of the loop" again! Finally, the entire sales group, whether networked or mobile, can work as a team!

Features

  • Timed Transfers (based on user-defined settings)
  • Filtered Transfers (e.g. only Western region data)
  • Selected Data Transfers between GoldMine sites (e.g. only updated calendar information)
  • Time Zone Reconciliation
  • "Linked Files" Support
  • Enhanced Security Controls

GoldMine vs. GoldSync

For new and existing users of GoldMine, the question of "when is GoldMine's built-in synchronization enough versus when is it necessary to use GoldSync" is a natural one. The following section illustrates the difference between GoldMine's Remote Synchronization capabilities and GoldSync's functionality:

GoldMine's Remote Synchronization

  • Offers functionality for one system, at one site to synchronize with one system at another site via telephone lines (notebook to server and diskette file transfers also available). For multiple systems at multiple sites to synchronize, a remote synchronization administrator must manually track and update the synchronization cutoff (last call) dates, times and user information, such as specific filters and directory settings of each system/site.
  • Offers only manual resetting capabilities to address the "infrequent sync user" problem. In this scenario, if one site/user fails to synchronize for an extended period of time, they receive only changed information since the last synchronization by another site-not since the date of their last synchronization. This results in missed data. A remote synchronization administrator must monitor the system to track when each site/user last called and reset the cutoff date manually to ensure everyone receives all changed data.
  • Offers users the capability of applying filters to limit the number of records transferred during synchronization. However, the application of a filter is not predetermined, i.e. the user responsible for initiating synchronization is required to manually apply the filter. There is no security option which automatically restricts a user's access to the entire database.
  • Offers functionality to support a single modem per computer to process incoming or outgoing calls with a single site.

GoldSync's Remote Synchronization

  • Offers functionality for one or multiple systems, at multiple sites to synchronize with a GoldSync server. Multiple GoldSync servers may also synchronize with one another via telephone lines or WAN. GoldSync servers automatically keep track of all cutoff dates and times, as well as specific user information such as filters and directory settings of each system/site/server.
  • Offers functionality to automatically keep track of each site/user's login activity to ensure that even an "infrequent sync user" receives all updated information since their last synchronization date, as opposed to the last synchronization date shown on the system (which may be from another site calling)-as with GoldMine's remote synchronization. GoldSync can be set to "continuous processing" mode to create and upload updated transfer sets for ongoing data retrieval.
  • Offers functionality to establish security settings which allow a synchronization administrator to set access rights across the system. Pre-defined filters for both contact and calendar information, calling options and other restrictions such as password protection can be set to restrict user access to data.
  • Offers the capability to support up to four simultaneous calls per computer to process incoming or outgoing calls with remote sites or servers.

Use the summary provided above when determining which type of remote synchronization is best suited to your communications and remote computing needs.

  • 8 MB RAM
  • At least one 9600 baud or higher Hayes-compatible modem (up to 4 modems per Server).

GoldSync Pricing

Site Server Configurations are based on the total number of remote GoldMine users accessing GoldSync.

  • GoldSync 3 Site Server $495
  • GoldSync 5 Site Server $695
  • GoldSync 10 Site Server $1,295
  • GoldSync 25 Site Server $2,795
  • GoldSync 50 Site Server $4,995
  • GoldSync 75 Site Server $6,995
  • GoldSync 100 Site Server $7,995

Additional Site licenses are available through combination orders. For example, an initial order of a GoldSync 150 Site license requires the purchase of a GoldSync 100 Site license in combination with a GoldSync 50 Site license.

Upgrading existing GoldSync Site licenses to support additional remote sites requires a "Bump order". For example, to increase a GoldSync 10 Site license to a 15 Site license and incorporate an additional 5 remote sites, the purchase of a "GoldSync 5 Site Bump" is required. Orders for bumps must be made through GoldMine Software or our Authorized Solutions Partners. A special bump code must be generated and released to customers who wish to upgrade their GoldSync licenses.
