The following instructions walk you through setting up a new Internet configuration using the "Internet Setup Assistant". The program can also be used to modify an existing configuration or even remove a configuration. To do either of these, put the black dot next to the appropriate option in step 3.

When you first run the program the following window will appear, click .

After a moments pause the following window will appear, click .

The next window will appear, make sure that "Add Internet configuration" has the black dot by it and click .

(This is where you modify or remove configurations by making black one of the other dots)

The next window will appear, in the field type "SOHO Central". Make sure that the black dot is by "Modem" and click .

The next window will appear. Select the type of modem you have from the list. From the "Port:" menu select the port your modem is attached to (probably the modem port). and make sure the black dot is by "Tone". Then click .

The next window will appear. In the first field enter the phone number for your area. In the second field enter you user name, or logon name (remember it is cAsE senSItiVe). In the third field type in your password (case sensitive as well). Click .

The next window will appear. Make sure that the black dot is next to "No". Click .

The next window will appear. In the top field type in:

In the bottom field type in:

Click .

The next window will appear. In the top field type in your e-mail address (<user name>@sohocentralusa.com* where user name is your user name, or logon name). In the bottom field type in your password. Click . (*use your domain name if we host your website)

The next window will appear. In the top field type in: <User Name>@pop.sohocentralusa.com (use your domain name, if we host your website) . In the bottom field type in: smtp.sohocentralusa.com (If we host your website and you DO NOT subscribe to our Internet access service, use your local Internet providers SMTP setting. If we host your website and you DO subscribe to our Internet access service, use smtp.yourdomain.com).
 Click .

The next window will appear. In the field type in: news.sohocentralusa.com (only available if you subscribe to our Internet access service) . Click .

The last window will appear. Un-check "Connect when finished" and click .

This completes the setting up of your computer to connect with our system under Macintosh OS 8. Please see the Internet Dialer page for an easy way to connect and disconnect from the Internet.
