Open Transport Modem Configuration

Once you are in the "Modem" Control Panel the window that appears should look something like the one below.

Make sure that the "Connect via: "menu shows the port to which your modem is connected. In the "Modem:" menu select the type of modem you have. If your modem is not there then use the default.

If that does not work you will have to guess and check until you find one that does. Once you are done close the "Modem" window.
