Install RAS (Remote Access Service)

This area is available to help you install RAS (Remote Access Service) for Windows NT 3.51 for use with OrbisNet Business Class Internet Access. It will walk you through the various configuration screens on your computer. At the end of this page there is a link for you to continue to the Setup RAS page to complete these steps.

Some of these configurations may already be configured on your system as a result of previous Internet connections and/or pre-installed with your system. Please review this information to make sure it is correct.

Before you begin, make sure you have your Windows NT CD-ROM or diskettes available and ready for installation. 

  1. Click the Add Software button.



     
  2. From the drop-down list, select Remote Access Service.



     
  3. Click the Continue button.
  4. Enter the full path to the Windows NT installation files.



     
  5. Click the Continue button.
  6. Select the Port your modem is installed on.



     
  7. Click the OK button.
  8. Click the OK button to let Remote Access Setup attempt to detect your modem.



     
  9. If your modem is detected, click the OK button. If your modem is not detected, contact your modem manufacturer for an updated modem.inf file.



     
  10. For Port Usage, select Dial out only.



     
  11. Click the OK button.



     
  12. Click the Network button
  13. Uncheck NetBEUI.



     
  14. Click the OK button.
  15. Check TCP/IP.
  16. Uncheck IPX.



     
  17. Click the OK button.
  18. Click the Continue button.
  19. Enter the full path to the Windows NT installation files, if prompted.



     
  20. Click the Continue button.
  21. Click the OK button.
  22. If you receive a notice about NetBEUI, click the OK button.
  23. If you have a network card installed in your system, you may see additional configuration screens. These are not related to Remote Access Service.



     
  24. Click the Restart Now button.
