Windows NT 3.51 Configuration

This area is available to help you setup Windows NT 3.51 for use with SOHO Central Business Class Internet Access. It will walk you through the various configuration screens on your computer. 

Some of these configurations may already be configured on your system as a result of previous Internet connections and/or pre-installed with your system. Please review this information to make sure it is correct.

Before you begin, make sure you have your Windows NT CD-ROM or diskettes available and ready for installation. 

Installing Remote Access Service

  1. From Program Manager, double-click the Main Program Group icon.



     
  2. Double-click the Control Panel icon.



     
  3. Double-click the Network icon.



     
  4. If you are prompted to install Windows NT Networking, click the Yes button and continue with the next step.




    If the Network Settings windows opens:
    1. If Remote Access Service does not appear in the list of Installed Network Software, continue here.
    2. If Remote Access Service appears in the list of Installed Network Software, continue here.
  5. Enter the full path to the Windows NT installation files.



     
  6. Click the Continue button.



     
  7. Click the Do Not Detect button.



     
  8. Click the Remote button to install Remote Access Service.
  9. Check Connectivity Utilities.
  10. All other Components are optional.
  11. Uncheck Enable Automatic DHCP Configuration.



     
  12. Click the Continue button.
  13. Select the Port your modem is installed on.



     
  14. Click the OK button.
  15. Click the OK button to let Remote Access Setup attempt to detect your modem.



     
  16. If your modem is detected, click the OK button. If your modem is not detected, contact your modem manufacturer for an updated modem.inf file.



     
  17. For Port Usage, select Dial out only.



     
  18. Click the OK button.
  19. You may receive a notice that automatic restoration of network connections has been disabled.
  20. Click the OK button.



     
  21. Click the Network button
  22. Uncheck NetBEUI.



     
  23. Click the OK button.
  24. Check TCP/IP..
  25. Uncheck IPX.



     
  26. Click the OK button.
  27. Click the Continue button.



     
  28. Click the OK button.
  29. If you receive a notice about NetBEUI, click the OK button.
  30. For Member of, select Workgroup.
  31. In the Workgroup box, type WORKGROUP.



     
  32. Click the OK button.
  33. Click the Restart Computer button.
